okay, the day before school started, 'parent day', i come into my classroom after being there until 4 a.m. working the night before, and find that the cleaning lady has destroyed a good deal of my hard work. apparently in her mind, anything on the floor was trash. a few of the brand-new classroom decorations had fallen overnight due to the humidity (the walls here have no drywall, so we can only use tape to put things up) and some teaching materials had been stacked on the floor by my desk. the next morning, they were gone! finally, after digging through the dumpster for a good ten minutes, i found them: dirty, crumpled and some not salvageable.
the excuse the school gave me for the cleaning lady's actions? 'well, she doesn't know english.' so...does that mean she is retarded and doesn't know brand-new useful materials from trash? hmmm....
